Taylor Cancer Research Center offers precision therapy clinical trials designed around the biology of a patient’s cancer. These studies help connect eligible patients with innovative treatment opportunities based on the genetic and molecular characteristics of their tumor.
At TCRC, precision therapy focuses on identifying the molecular signals that drive cancer growth and matching patients to therapies designed to target those signals more specifically.
Clinical trials designed around the molecular characteristics of cancer
Precision therapy is a personalized treatment approach that uses the genetic and molecular characteristics of a patient’s tumor to help guide therapy selection. Because each cancer may have different molecular drivers, clinical trials can play an important role in giving patients access to targeted therapies that are being actively studied.
At Taylor Cancer Research Center, comprehensive gene profile testing helps define the signal pattern responsible for cancer survival in each individual patient. That information can help identify whether a patient may be a fit for a precision therapy clinical trial.
TYPES OF STUDIES CURRENTLY OPEN
TCRC’s clinical trial program includes studies in several areas of cancer care, including non-small cell lung cancer, EGFR-mutated lung cancer, advanced solid tumors, and recurrent or metastatic breast cancer. The active portfolio continues to grow, with additional interventional precision studies open for treatment opportunity.
Current and recently activated studies include:
first-line Dato-DXd in combination with rilvegostomig for advanced non-squamous NSCLC with high PD-L1 expression
Dato-DXd with or without osimertinib in EGFR-mutated locally advanced or metastatic NSCLC
NDI-219216 in patients with advanced solid tumors
alisertib in combination with endocrine therapy in HR-positive, HER2-negative recurrent or metastatic breast cancer
SPLF10-174 with select immunotherapy combinations in advanced NSCLC

How Participation Works
Every clinical trial has specific eligibility requirements. A patient’s diagnosis, disease status, prior treatment history, molecular testing results, and other medical factors may all be considered when determining whether a study may be appropriate.
The next step is simple: use the referral form on the website. Patients and physicians can both submit a referral directly so the TCRC team can begin review.
Why Does Precision Therapy Matter?
Precision therapy targets the disrupted DNA-to-protein signaling pathways that drive cancer growth. Unlike broader treatment approaches, precision therapies are designed to focus on the abnormal cancer signals identified through comprehensive genomic profiling.
Routine monitoring of comprehensive gene profiles has been associated with improved overall survival, reduced relapse, and reduced hospitalization when matched to relevant precision therapy. TCRC’s mission is to bring that kind of research-driven care and access to patients in Northwest Ohio.
A Growing Clinical Research Program
Taylor Cancer Research Center continues to build a robust clinical trial program in Northwest Ohio. According to our June 2025 newsletter, 25 patients had entered precision therapeutic trials and 51 had entered observation biomarker trials at that time. The same update noted that 30 additional interventional precision studies were open for treatment opportunity.
This growth reflects our larger mission to expand FDA-supported therapeutic research management in Northwest Ohio through a nationally acclaimed molecular-based precision therapy program.
